it's margaret, please call me margaret.

So for the past 6 years or so, our dear Maggie has been content to be called just that: Maggie.

It seems now our little girl is growing up and she desires something a bit more mature.  "Maggie" would now like to be known as "Margaret", which is her given name.  She worked very hard to learn to spell and write "Margaret" and we are all trying very hard to correct ourselves.  Her kindergarten teacher has even noticed and has been trying to remind herself of the change.  (FYI- this teacher's name is also Margaret.)

Maggie, er, Margaret, has started her first season of soccer.  She is playing in our town's league and her games are Saturdays or Sundays, sometime both.  It has been a ton of fun to go and watch- Lydia and Jack have really enjoyed it.

Check out our star's pink cleats!  Under those blue socks are a pair of hot-pink shin guards too!

the early bird.

Dear Early Bird Outside My Window,

I am happy you seem so excited to celebrate spring.  Really I am.  But I would like you to consider postponing your early -morning celebration each day until maybe, oh I don't know, the sun comes up?  Maybe? Please?  It's just that 4am is a really bad time to start trumpeting the commencement of the day: it wakes me up, it keeps me up, and I notice as the minutes wear on, it also wakes your buddies here in the 'hood and gets them going too.  Including the peacocks, and they are really too loud for 4 in the morning.

Just give it some thought.  I beg of you...

In an unrelated story, here is my big boy- notsomuch a baby anymore!  He is 18 months old today!  This is Jack at the donut shop, sitting in a big boy chair, eating his big boy glazed donut.  I could tell he felt very grown-up, can't you?

busy little spider indeed.

One morning not long ago, we awoke to a rather beautiful fog and something even more lovely strung along the length of the fence in our backyard.

During the night and the early morning hours there must have been a busy little spider working very hard at this masterpiece.

It is such an obvious comparison that I just can't help making.  Life around here, while fun and good and all that, has been super busy and I just can't seem to make much time lately for the extras that I enjoy, like maintaining my blog.  I get distracted so easily these days- spring cleaning and all that entails (really weird stuff like pulling the fridge out from its nook to vacuum and mop.  Huh?), decorating the house for the season (loving my Easter decorations this year!  Pictures soon...), playing outside, etc.  And then there are the necessary parts of the daily routine that cannot be ignored- grocery shopping and feeding the children, doing laundry, helping with homework, etc.

But I'll be back.  With pictures too- I just managed to upload over 200 pictures from my camera.  See, I told you we've been busy!

More soon...

Noon Time Cocktailing... I'm on vacation!

going...

going...

gone!

Off to the Children's Museum!

Last Sunday Brian and I took the kids to the Children's Museum of Memphis.  Maggie and Lydia had only been there maybe once, for a birthday party- so this was a pretty big deal for us.

Here's the hard part:  trying to decide who had more fun.  Maggie, Lydia, and Jack?  Or Brian?  You decide:
