And the teeth have arrived...

Much to my relief, and his I am sure, Jack's top 2 front teeth have come in.  It has been a rather difficult day as he has spent most of it working on that last thin layer of gum tissue, using me as his teething ring.  Jack, try to not bite the boob that feeds you, son.

Happy Birthday Brian!

Today was Brian's birthday and to celebrate we went to a local Asian grill with his parents for dinner.  We had a fun time- Maggie and Lydia adore Jane and Frank and love spending time with them.  You can see from the pictures that Jack is busily working on getting those top 2 teeth to come in- he has spent most of this afternoon gnawing on his fingers.  Thankfully they don't seem to bother him too much as he doesn't seem to be cranky at all, but he is definitely preoccupied these days trying to get them out.

Maggie has a loose tooth!

Maggie and Lydia had their check up with the dentist this morning and I am pleased to announce that we have no cavities!  Both girls did just super getting their teeth cleaned and polished.  We need to work on thumbsucking for both of them- that has taken a bit of a back seat in recent months due to the arrival of a certain baby brother. Now that we are all settled into a routine we really should start making it more of a priority.

And the big news of the day is that Maggie has a loose tooth!  Her front bottom teeth- they feel ever so slightly loose, but loose nonetheless.  We could be getting a visit from the Tooth Fairy soon... for those of you who don't know, she has already lost her 2 front teeth but that almost doesn't count because they had to be pulled out after she fell and knocked them loose 2 years ago.

No pictures today because Maggie is feeling shy and Lydia and Jack are snoozing away the afternoon... Jack has stopped sleeping through the night suddenly so he has some lost sleep he needs to catch up on apparently.  ;)

Happy First Easter Jack!

Happy Easter everyone!

Today is Jack's very first Easter celebration and we had a great day.  Maggie was the first one awake this morning but she waited quietly for Lydia to wake up.  When Lydia finally did get up, they started the hunt for their baskets.  Maggie found Jack's first- the Easter Bunny hid it in his laundry bin.  Lydia was next- hers was in her favorite room of the house, the pantry!  Maggie was last and she was getting a little nervous that perhaps the Easter Bunny may have forgotten her.  We went through each room, checking in closets and looking under tables.  She finally found hers in her big pink tent in our spare bedroom (soon to be Jack's room- he is still in our room).  Each of them had a sweet little basket of treats- princess necklaces, m&m's, bunny slippers, and other trinkets & treats for the girls, and a sippy cup, spoons and bowls, and teething rings for Jack.

We all had a nice day together and shared a very tasty Easter dinner earlier this evening.  Maggie and Lydia have been home on spring break all week and will go back to preschool in the morning.  Only about 6 weeks left until summer break!  This school year has gone much too fast for me!

The week ahead is busy- dentist appointments for cleanings for both girls and me... Maggie assures me she is not nervous this time (she has been in the past, but her very first dental experience involved having her 2 front teeth removed, so I totally understand where her anxiety stems from).  We started potty training Lyddie this weekend and will continue with that this week along with some help from her preschool teachers Ms. Kirsten and Ms. Lauren.

Have a great week!

Maggie's Easter Party

Today Jack and I had the pleasure of attending Maggie's Easter Party and Egg Hunt at preschool.  The day started off rainy so the festivities were held indoors.  Here are some pictures of Maggie with her bucket she decorated before and after the Egg Hunt.  Since the Egg Hunt had to be inside the teachers decided to have it in a darkened room so all the kids brought flash lights to look for their eggs.

The kids had a great time listening to bunny-themed stories, playing musical chairs, and decorating their Easter buckets.  Jack and I did need to leave a bit early, but Maggie said they also had a picnic lunch on the floor, had a relay race with real eggs (she was very excited that the eggs they used were real), and they watched the Veggie Tales Easter video.

Pictures!

Okay, here come the pictures!  Hopefully I get this right on the first shot!

The pictures of Maggie and Lydia were taken this weekend.  They had spent most of Sunday afternoon painting with watercolors at their easel- one girl on each side.  Maggie loves to paint and Lydia loves doing whatever Maggie is doing, so they had a great afternoon. Notice Lydia is in her jammies- she insists on changing into pj's at naptime each afternoon. I am not sure why, just something she has started doing in recent weeks.  Maybe she is just more comfortable that way.  :)

The picture of Jack was taken yesterday morning. Nothing special, just because I thought he looked handsome and he was in a super happy mood.   The good thing about having this blog is that it motivates me to take more pictures of the kids to share.  I think when you have more than one child life gets a little more hectic and I know am not always reaching for the camera like I did when it was just Maggie.  This will be good!   Love, Lynn

Welcome!

Hi Everyone!  Welcome to our blog!  This will be a much easier way for us to stay in touch with everyone, near and far.

Just a quick update, Maggie is now 5 and is busily preparing for kindergarten.  This fall she will be a student at and she is very excited to take this big step.  She is enjoying preschool right now and goes 4 days each week.  Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are what we call "regular" days and Thursdays are her "project" days.  Project Day is a special enrichment day where she studies different cultures, fine arts, and does simple science experiments.  It really is amazing how much she learns on this day.  Yesterday she told me all the "good artists" like Van Gogh and Rembrandt are dead.  A critic already!

Lydia is just over 2 1/2 now (she will be 3 in June) and also attends preschool.  She goes 3 days a week and loves her teachers and friends.  She has become very nurturing, a little mommy.  She adores her baby brother and loves to pretend she is a big kid so she can keep up with Maggie and cousin Ronan.  She loves to sing and has become somewhat of an expert on Brian's iPhone.  She can now turn it on, unlock it, and get herself to the pictures stored on the phone so she can scroll through all of them.

Jack is 5 months old this coming Friday.  It is so hard to believe how quickly this time has passed.  He LOVES his sisters- they are so entertaining to him!  Right now he is sitting with me just chatting and playing with his stuffed giraffe.  He has 2 of his bottom teeth in and is currently working very hard on getting the upper 2 to come through.  He can roll over from his tummy to his back and is thinking about the possibility of getting from his back to his tummy.  He loves attention from anyone who will take the time to make eye contact with him.

I am hoping (*fingers crossed here*) to keep our blog updated- probably not daily, but at least a few times a week.  The kids certainly keep me busy but I am looking forward to this project- I thought it would be so great to have to keep in touch with all of you!  I'll post some pictures soon... ENJOY!

Love, Lynn
